Rocker Chris Daughtry has been named the first ambassador for comic book giants DC Entertainment's campaign to fight hunger in Africa.
The former American Idol star is releasing an acoustic version of his band Daughtry's track Rescue Me and will hand over 100 per cent of the single's proceeds to the new foundation, We Can Be Heroes.
Daughtry, a life-long comic book fan, signed up to the initiative after a "heart-breaking" charity trip to the East African republic of Uganda.
He tells The Hollywood Reporter, "It was devastating, what I saw. Heart-breaking. You can see that stuff all the time on TV, but until you experience it firsthand, it doesn't put it into perspective."
