Christina Aguilera is to become the new voice of World Hunger Relief, which may make many who saw her rendition of the US national anthem last year cringe, but of course more seriously means she'll be one of the high profile figures hoping to raise awareness for a campaign that seeks to address the constant issue of hunger in the third world.
The press, as reported by Buzzfeed, reads "Christina Aguilera uses her voice for good in the fight against hunger by filming a new Psa for Yum! Brands World Hunger Relief in Los Angeles." Continuing, it adds "The effort launches this fall in Kfc, Pizza Hut and Taco Bell restaurants worldwide to benefit the UN World Food Programme and others. Nearly 1 billion people are going hungry around the globe and Aguilera is raising awareness as global spokesperson for Yum! Brands World Hunger Relief." We could say there's a certain irony in the fact that some of the chains involved are those somewhat responsible for causing the first world to go the other way towards obesity, but there's no denying that raising money for the poor is a good thing, so props to Christina for getting behind them.
"I'm so excited to film a new Psa for Yum! Brand's World Hunger Relief using my voice to help millions of children who go to bed every night" says Aguilera in an accompanying clip.
