Pop star Christina Aguilera was honoured for her philanthropy by U.S. Secretary of State Hilary Clinton at the 2012 George MCGovern Leadership Award Ceremony on Wednesday (03Oct12).
The Voice judge was the guest of honour at The State Department event in Washington, D.C. and was lauded for her work with the United Nations World Hunger Relief, which has raised $115 million (£71 million) to help feed starving children around the world.
Clinton thanked Aguilera for her efforts, before the singer joined in a round table talk with Yum! Brand boss David Novak, whose company launched the drive, and U.S. Agency for International Development administrator Raj Shah, to discuss how the campaign can go even further to tackle hunger in impoverished nations.
Before the event, Aguilera tweeted, "In Dc for the George MCGovern Leadership Awards at the US Department of State. Proud to use my voice for good & help fromhungertohope.com."
