Christina Milian believes she has gone to ''hell and back'' following her short marriage to music star The Dream, but now feels better than ever.
Christina Milian feels she has gone "to hell and back".
The 29-year-old singer split with her husband The Dream in 2010 after less than a year of marriage following reports of infidelity, despite being pregnant with their child, but believes the relationship helped her learn more about herself.
She said: "I feel Brand New. I've been to hell and back, but I've survived. I'm stronger for it and now I'm ready for the next phase of my life.
"I learned a lot about myself this year. I learned what I can handle. I learned how much I can take."
It also assisted her in discovering what was healthy for her 11-month-old daughter Violet, and taught her people cannot change.
She told Latina magazine: "I learned who I am and what I will accept for myself and my daughter.
"No matter what, you can't change who you are. I know that now. I tried to be someone I wasn't because I wanted my marriage to work. But ultimately, if it's not working, it's not working."
Discussing suggestions of infidelity, Christina believes she knew something was amiss with her husband - who she married at the Little White Chapel in Las Vegas, Nevada in September 2009 - but didn't confront him.
She said: "I didn't know anything. But looking back, my gut was telling me something was off. But I thought I could fix it."
