Clint Eastwood, Muhammad Ali and Robin Williams are among the stars whose old footwear has raised impressive amounts of money to buy shoes for orphans.

The stars donated their cast-offs to BUCKNER ORPHAN CARE INTERNATIONAL for a sale hosted by online auction company eBAY, helping to raise nearly $28,000 (GBP17,500).

A pair of tennis shoes Eastwood wore in the movie SPACE COWBOYS attracted high bids, as did the custom-made boots Christina Aguilera donned on her recent STRIPPED tour.

The highest price was for the autographed size 22 boots of American basketball star Shaquille O'Neal, which went for $2,905 (GBP1,815).

Robin Williams' zany camouflage REEBOK tennis shoes and Tom Hanks' brown leather GUCCIs brought in high bids, as did shoes from Sarah Jessica Parker, Courteney Cox, Matt Damon, Brooke Shields, Julianne Moore, Lara Flynn Boyle, CALISTA FLOCKHART, Charlize Theron and Heidi Klum.
