Cody Chesnutt Releases New Single 'Till I Met Thee' Out 18th Of March Plus March 2013 Dates Announced

Launching what the Evening Standard described as 'a pretty spectacular comeback' with the sudden appearance last summer of a fully formed soul anthem, That's Still Mama, Cody ChesnuTT's new album Landing On A Hundred has more than lived up to the weight of expectation. 

With its joyous redemptive vocal and classic soul groove, album opener Till I Met Thee is set for single release on 18th March 2013, accompanied by a Terence Nance video. 

Returning a decade on from his edgy, sprawling Shortlist Prize nominated 2002 debut, The Headphone Masterpiece, Cody received an especially rapturous welcome on returning to the UK in September to play a packed out solo show at The Jazz Cafe. With US and European dates already in the diary, Cody has announced long awaited UK shows with his new 8-piece band of elite players - the line-up which debuted with outstanding performances on Later with Jools Holland and The Craig Charles Funk & Soul Show back in October.

Till I Met Thee is accompanied by Terence Nance's beautiful music video. Terence's first feature film, An Oversimplification of Her Beauty, premiered in the New Frontier section of the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, and garnered him recognition from Filmmaker magazine, where he was selected as one of the 25 new faces of independent film. Oversimplification... also won the 2012 Gotham Award for "Best Film Not Playing at a Theater Near You." 

The title Landing On A Hundred is a reference to the slang saying, 'keeping it one hundred' or telling the whole truth, and for lovers of true blue Southern soul Cody's new album is a must-have - the rhythm tracks recorded with a ten-piece band in Memphis-based Royal Studios, the sonic birthplace of some of the deepest works by soul and blues luminaries like Al Green, Buddy Guy and Ike & Tina Turner. "The original tracks were cut on two-inch tape," Cody explains. "My hands were tingling because I got to sing on the actual microphone that Al Green recorded with. Nothing has changed. The down-home acoustic treatments are still in place."
