Coldplay frontman Chris Martin has claimed the band's next album will not just the best they have ever done - it will be the best in history.

The 28-year-old singer who is married to actress Gwyneth Paltrow, has already started writing for the new record, which will also contain the "best song ever."

He says, "I think the next time we'll be everyone's band. Our next album is going to be the greatest piece of music ever made."

The band's last album, X+Y, has sold over five million copies since its release last year (05) - Martin claimed at the time the group were "reinventing the wheel".
