Coldplay have been named the recipient of this year's (13) Hollywood Song Award for their tune from the upcoming The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack.

Frontman Chris Martin, who is reportedly a fan of the book trilogy and films, will be accepting the accolade for Atlas at the Hollywood Film Awards on 21 October (13), nearly a month before Catching Fire hits cinemas on 22 November (13).

Atlas is the first song to be released from the dystopian film's soundtrack, and it has already reached the top spot on the iTunes pop charts in 43 countries around the world.

Not only is the rock ballad the first song Coldplay has ever written specifically for a movie soundtrack, but it's also the first new song since the release of their 2011 album Mylo Xyloto.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack, which also features new tracks from Christina Aguilera, Lorde and Sia, will be released on 19 November (13).
