Colin Firth has been invited back to English village where he was born after picking up his first Oscar on Sunday night (27Feb11).
Locals in Grayshott, Surrey are tremendously proud of the actor, who claimed the Best Actor prize for his role in The King's Speech - which was also crowned Best Picture - and they'd like to salute him properly in the picturesque village where he was born in 1960.
Community leader Peter Hatch reveals Firth only lived "a short while" in Grayshott before moving to Nigeria.
But he's still considered a favourite son in the neighbourhood.
Hatch says, "If Colin is reading this, may we wish you many congratulations on your Oscar and invite you to join us in Grayshott to celebrate!"
Many locals have suggested Firth be handed "the key to the village" to mark his Oscars win.
Meanwhile, in honour of Colin Firth's Academy Awards win, bosses at the U.K.'s biggest budget hotel chain, Premier Inn, have renamed the first floor of their nearby venue - the Premier Inn Eastleigh - the 'Firth Floor'.
