Adam Sandler once only agreed to go on 'Conan' if NBC bought him a fax machine.

The 48-year-old actor made a deal with the broadcasting company, which he has previously claimed fired him from 'Saturday Night Live' in 1995, because they were keen for him to appear on the chat show and while he was reluctant to do so after getting the boot from 'SNL', he was desperate for a $400 fax.

Speaking to host Conan O'Brien on tonight's (09.03.15) 'Conan' show, he said: ''I got fired by 'Saturday Night Live' and then that summer ... I loved doing your show ... but my manager called me and said, 'NBC want you to do Conan,' and he goes, 'It sweeps,' and I said, 'What do you mean?' And he goes, 'Well it sweep sweeps.'

''He said, 'They want you on there,' and I thought, 'They don't like me, they just fired me,' and he was like, 'No, no it's for 'Conan' though and it's not 'Saturday Night Live'.'

''I was like, 'Isn't that NBC?' And he was like, 'Yeah.'

''To make a big stand, I was young and I was angry, I said, 'Well, you tell them I will do Conan's show but they have to buy me a fax machine.''

Fortunately for Adam his bargaining tactics paid off and NBC purchased him a fax machine, but he admitted he never quite got the hang of using it.

He added: ''A week earlier I asked my brother, 'Everybody's got these fax machines man, can I get one?' and he goes, 'They're like $400,' and I went, 'Woah ... let's wait on that but eventually I want to get one.' And then this came along and I was like, 'There it is baby!'

When asked if he ever used it, he replied: ''I wasn't great at it.''
