Courteney Cox will get married this year.

The 'Cougar Town' actress - who has nine-year-old daughter Coco with ex-husband David Arquette - and Snow Patrol rocker Johnny McDaid, 37, have reportedly been talking about tying the knot after dating for a year, and friends expect a wedding to take place in the near future.

A source said: ''Johnny loves her daughter Coco, and he wants to marry Courteney. They have discussed getting engaged and everyone thinks it is going to happen.''

The 49-year-old actress' friends are said to be delighted she is thinking of settling down with the 'Run' hitmaker because they think he is good for her.

The source added to the New York Post newspaper's Page Six column: ''She met Johnny through Ed Sheeran, who is friends with Jennifer Aniston. All of Courteney's friends love Johnny, which is great because Jen wasn't so fond of David Arquette.''

Courteney recently admitted she is happier than ever with Johnny and was thankful for his support on her movie directorial debut, 'Just Before I Go'.

She said last month: ''I couldn't be happier

''He supports me in every way . . . He supports me creatively. He really believed in the movie . . . and not just because he likes me, though I know that helps.''

And the guitarist also heaped praise on his girlfriend's creativity.

He said: ''She gets music. She gets art. She gets the way a scene gets constructed, the way dialogue works. And she puts it all together in her mind and then explains it to the world and makes movies that make people laugh and cry, squirm and jump, all those things.''
