Troubled rocker Courtney Love has failed to have a civil suit accusing her of assault thrown out of court.

The former Hole frontwoman had pleaded guilty in a criminal court to the 2004 assault on Los Angeles musician Kristin King, and paid her $2,700 (GBP1,500) in compensation.

However, King's lawyer says this amount of money wasn't enough.

The judge at the hearing in Santa Monica, California, on Wednesday (01FEB05) refused to dismiss the case.

A date for the next hearing has not yet been set, reports MTV.
