British thriller CREEP has been given a $2 million (GBP1.26 million) lottery grant from the UK FILM COUNCIL's Premiere Fund.

The forthcoming film - directed by first-timer CHRIS SMITH - is about a woman trapped on a dark train with a stalker, and it is hoped it will emulate the success of hit 2002 UK movie 28 DAYS LATER.

The Bourne Identity actress FRANKE POTENTE is starring in the lead role, which was written specifically for her.

A spokesman says, "She (Potente) finds herself trapped and playing a cat and mouse game with her pursuer. Her nightmare has just begun."
