Cymbals To Release New Single 'The End' On 22nd July 2013

Cymbals return with new single 'The End', a shimmering seven-minute menagerie of plaintive synths, typically sincere vocals and muted house beats. With the intoxicating feel of a night under the lights of a '90s Parisian disco, there's a bittersweet European elegance at play that simultaneously draws on the recklessness of youth, while asking what happens when the party finishes and it's time to grow up? "It's about the night and the night out, about being young, and being the only one, and, then, suddenly being older," says singer Jack Cleverly, who grew up in France and spent formative years in those very same Parisians clubs. "But 'The End' is ultimately about dancing with your eyes closed to all of that".

Formed in 2010, CYMBALS - four instrument-swapping friends, Dan, Jack, Neil and Luke, pieced together from the ashes of various other bands - have been gaining a reputation for their blend of art pop. If you're hearing various parts of turn-of-the-century French disco, Sheffield Steel City new romanticism and a kind of new wave freewheeling, then you've a firm handle on their M.O.

Coming hot on the heels of well received singles 'Like An Animal' and 'The Natural World', 'The End' will feature on the band's keenly anticipated new album, set for release later this year. "'The End' started on guitar but we tore it apart," says Cleverly. "The song contains some old memories for me, but equally, somewhere in there, I hope you hear your memories too."

The band play a unique show featuring lighting designed by art-direction collective Sets Appeal at London's Sebright Arms on June 13th, along with a handful of festival dates.

13th June - Sebright Arms, London
18th July - BBC Introducing Stage @ Larmer Tree Festival, Salisbury
3rd Aug - Castlepalooza, Tullamore
4th Aug - Indiependence, Michelstown
