Reggaeton superstar DADDY YANKEE has been named Songwriter of the Year at the 14th Annual ASCAP Latin Music Awards. The ROMPE hitmaker also picked up the Song of The Year (LO QUE PASO PASO) and Urban Song of The Year (MAYOR QUE YO) awards at the prize-giving ceremony, held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles last night (07MAR06). Meanwhile, singer-songwriter RICARDO ARJONA was honoured with the prestigious ASCAP Latin Heritage Award for his important contributions to music. Other big winners included ARMANDO AVILA and NATALIA JIMENEZ SARMIENTO (Rock Song of the Year for ALGO MAS), ENRIQUE 'FATO' GUZMAN (Regional Mexican Song of the Year for EL AUTOBUS) and Leonel Garcia and RICARDO ARJONA, who tied for the Pop/Ballad Song of the Year prize for their respective hits ME DEDIQUE A PERDERTE and PORQUE ES TAN CRUEL EL AMOR.
