Daft Punk are on course to smash Oasis' 16-year U.K. chart record for the fastest-selling album thanks to the success of their new release Random Access Memories.

Oasis' 1997 album Be Here Now sold 650,000 in its first week, but pre-sales suggest the French dance music duo could pass that figure when Random Access Memories is released on Friday (17May13).

If Daft Punk crash into the top of the U.K. album countdown, as expected, they'll score a chart double as their new single Get Lucky is set to spend a fourth week at number one on Sunday (19May13).
