Albarn Confirms Star-studded Glastonbury Line-up
Damon Albarn has confirmed Gorillaz will play a star-studded set at Britain's Glastonbury festival on Friday (25Jun10) - the band will share the stage with artists including Lou Reed, Snoop Dogg and Shaun Ryder.
The Blur frontman will headline the famed U.K. music event with his band after stepping in to replace Irish rockers U2, who pulled out of the slot due to Bono's recent back surgery.
Albarn, who recently admitted he was desperate to play with Reed at the festival, has revealed fans won't be disappointed as he has managed to persuade a string of famous names to take part in the Gorillaz show.
He tells Britain's BBC 6 Music, "We've got Lou Reed coming, Snoop, Mark E Smith, Shaun Ryder, Mos Def, De La Soul, Farside, Gruff, Kano and Bashy, Little Dragon, Rolf Harris, Syrian National Orchestra, I'm sure there's somebody else but I have forgotten..."
The former Blur frontman admits making arrangements for the Glastonbury slot has been "a proper nightmare" but he's convinced all the hard work will pay off.
He adds, "I don't know how many people are working on this, maybe 150-200 people all in all. Then you've got all the people dealing with all the visas, travel arrangements and hotels, it is a proper nightmare, but hopefully it is worth it!"
