Daniel Day-Lewis and his Lincoln director Steven Spielberg met with the prime minister of Ireland on Sunday (20Jan13) to discuss the country's film industry.

The actor, who became an Irish citizen in 1993, was accompanied by the filmmaker as they visited Dublin's Government Buildings, the headquarters of the Government of Ireland, to visit leader Enda Kenny.

The duo was also joined by Arts Minister Jimmy Deenihan and James Hickey, CEO of the Irish Film Board, at the meeting in Kenny's office.

Spielberg reveals the group gathered to "talk movies", adding of Kenny, "He has seen lots of my films, not Lincoln yet, but all the other ones."

Day-Lewis and Spielberg were later joined by actress Sally Field at the star-studded Irish premiere of Lincoln at the Savoy Cinema in Dublin.
