Dave Grohl is a massive Sophie Ellis-Bextor fan.

The Foo Fighters frontman might be known for his hard rocking image, but secretly loves nothing more than dancing around his house to the 'Murder On The Dancefloor' singer's tracks.

When asked who her most unlikely fan is, Sophie revealed: ''Dave Grohl from the Foo Fighters. We were at a party a year ago and a lot of boys were looking over at him and he came up to me and said, 'You've got no idea how often we play your music in our house.'

''These boys looked on with a mixture of confusion and awe. It was a cool moment.''

Over the last few years Sophie has shifted the focus from her music career to motherhood - marrying The Feeling musician Richard Jones, with whom she has sons Sonny, eight, and Kit, three - but now she feels the time is right to write her fifth studio album, promising a more ''wistful'' and grown-up sound.

She told the Metro newspaper: ''I only started a month ago... I'll pick up where the last one left off but it's time for something a little bit different. At the moment, it's a bit more wistful, a bit less dancey. I love dance music but you can't be very reflective with the lyrics - it's a here and now thing. I want to talk about other things.

''I'm 33, I've been around a bit as an artist, so it'll be another dance entry of sorts. Writing songs about fancying people in dance clubs is all very well but it's not the be all and end all. There are other topics.''
