The massive drumsticks erected in Warren, Ohio, in honor of Dave Grohl have broken the Guinness World Record. The 900-pound poplar logs mark the second occasion on which the town has chosen to honor its famous son. Currently, the structure is on display at the Warren Amphitheatre, where it will remain until the end of September. Then, it is scheduled to be moved to 'Dave Grohl Alley,' which was thus named in 2009 in the town's first official mark of respect to the Foo Fighters frontman. It must be a decent-sized alleyway if it's going to house the world's largest pair of drumsticks.?
Dave Grohl has tweeted a message of gratitude to the town-folk of Warren, saying "o the wonderful city of Warren, from the bottom of my heart I'd like to thank you all so much . . . For the childhood memories. For my family. For my very own alley. For the world's largest drumsticks! And for all of your support . . . But most of all for being such a great community. One that makes me proud to say . . . I am from Warren, Ohio!"
Grohl may have moved to the suburbs of Washington DC with his family when he was young, but Warren, Ohio are pulling out all the stops to make sure the world recognizes the famous rocker's birthplace. He's better known these days as the guitarist and singer for Foo Fighters but he made his name as the drummer for the legendary grunge band Nirvana, hence the drumsticks being chosen to honor his career.
