David Beckham loves taking photographs.

The retired soccer star - who has children Brooklyn, 15, Romeo, 12, Cruz, nine, and three-year-old Harper with wife Victoria - is very proud of the work he does as a Unicef Goodwill Ambassador and always documents the trips he makes with the charity in pictures to show his family when he returns home.

He said: ''I love photography. I take hundreds of photos while I'm away. It makes memories and gives me the opportunity to show my children why Daddy has been away for a week or two weeks.

''Pictures have always been important to me and luckily I take good ones.''

And on his next trip, David could be joined by his eldest son, who has expressed an interest in his charity work.

David told Britain's HELLO! magazine: ''Obviously he's in school so a trip would have to be carefully planned. It will be exciting and hard for him to see, but I think it's important.

The kids understand what I'm doing but there's nothing better than actually being there and if I can give that opportunity to my children then I want to.

''Wherever I am in the world, whatever I'm doing, I speak to my children every day. I'm proud to tell my children what I'm doing and how I'm helping and I think it makes them proud of me as well.''
