One of David Bowie's most embarrassing moments was when he went to see Elvis Presley live.

The STAR MAN rocker jetted in to New York to see Elvis perform at Madison SQUARE GARDEN direct from a show in London in 1972 - but he arrived 10 minutes into a 45-minute appearance.

He says, "I had the humiliating experience of walking down the centre aisle to my very good RCA-provided seat while Elvis performed Proud Mary.

"I was in full ZIGGY (STARDUST) regalia - brilliant red hair and KABUKI platform shoes.

"Elvis was fantastically fit-looking, and his voice was in great shape. I was a little brought down as his show lasted only about 45 minutes."
