A remastered version of David Bowie's classic album Aladdin Sane will be released to mark the record's 40th anniversary.

The legend's sixth album hit shelves in 1973 and was a follow-up to his major breakthrough The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.

The album's sleeve artwork features the iconic image of Bowie in his Ziggy Stardust guise with a lightning bolt painted on his face.

The record, which includes tracks The Jean Genie and Drive-In Saturday, has been digitally overhauled and will be reissued on 15 April (13).

Bowie thrilled fans last month (Jan13) by releasing his first new music in 10 years. The single, Where Are We Now?, which topped the U.K. download charts hours after its release, will appear on his upcoming album The Next Day, due out in March (13).
