David Duchovny has praised his wife Tea Leoni for being "great".

The 'X Files' actor - who has daughter Madelaine, 10, and seven-year-old son Kyd with his spouse - has spoken out about how the 43-year-old actress has many excellent qualities, including "good" tennis skills.

He said: "She's a great partner and wife and mother.

"She's a good tennis player. We play a lot of tennis but we don't play against one and other. We just rally, which I think is wise because she'd probably beat me."

David and Tea married in 1997 and separated in 2008, shortly before he spent time in a rehabilitation centre for sex addiction. They reunited last year and are thrilled to be back together.

David said: "Everything's great, thanks for asking."

However, the 49-year-old star has admitted he finds it difficult being separated from his family - even for short periods of time.

He explained to America's OK! magazine: "It's just a moment-by-moment, day-by-day thing. I mean, I had to leave them to come here. That's tough."

David recently spoke out about how he loves watching his kids turn into "little people".

When asked what the best part of fatherhood was, he replied: "Being with my kids, and watching them open up. We travelled cross-country last summer, and just watching them relate to new people and new experiences. It's great to see them as little people."
