Hugh Jackman's wife hates being called ''lucky'' when it comes to her marriage.

Deborra-lee Furness - who has been married to the 'X-Men' star since 1996 - has admitted she gets annoyed when she is labelled in that way.

She told Australian Woman's Weekly magazine: ''That to me is a putdown. [It's] like you suggesting I won the chook raffle.''

The 58-year-old producer - who has adopted two children, 14-year-old Oscar and Ava, nine, with her husband - urged others to not judge the lives of people they don't know as they cannot be sure what ''challenges'' the person may be facing.

She said: ''When people look at my life, they don't know the challenges [I face], just like I don't know someone else's [challenges].

''With every privilege, comes responsibility and challenges.''

Meanwhile, 45-year-old Hugh has previously spoken up about his ''beautiful, amazing'' wife, admitting that he really enjoys the couple's date nights.

When asked what is the secret of a successful marriage, he said: ''Make sure you have a date night just the two of you together, without the kids.

''And don't be afraid to tell your kids that you have no idea what you're doing either.''
