Heavy rockers Deep Purple are bouncing back from their Rock & Roll Hall of Fame snub by announcing plans to release their first album in eight years.

The untitled project will hit stores and the Internet in April (13) and frontman Ian Gillan insists it will be one of the band's finest works.

He tells Wenn, "The title of our new album is still a question mark to all of us... We have recorded a new album, and it's a fantastic collection of songs. At the moment that's the only affirmative point we can offer."

The news comes just two days after the band was overlooked by Hall of Fame bosses as they announced the inductees for the Class of 2013.

The new album means both Deep Purple and Black Sabbath will have new material for release in 2013.
