Officials are apparently completely split as to whether Justin Bieber deserved to be cautioned for speeding on a Los Angeles highway recently. It's been widely reported that Bieber's sports car was doing speeds of above 80 mph, dangerously cutting off other vehicles and veering between lanes. However, in his defence he was apparently on the escape from paparazzi who were in hot pursuit of the 18 year-old, trying to get a picture.
The California Highway Patrol who watch the strip seem to be torn into two, with some citing the tragic incident of Princess Diana in Paris, 1997 when her car crashed whilst fleeing from paparazzi, whilst others think that Bieber should nevertheless have shown awareness of the general public and got off the freeway even if he was in pursuit, and perhaps even stopped. Which sounds like a no-win situation for the pop starlet really.
Tmz reports that 10 911 calls were made during the incident, with many describing the scene as a chase of pursuit like proportions. However, another source has said "It's like rushing a woman to the hospital who's about to give birth. You can't endanger the lives of innocent people, and Bieber did." Bieber has apparently filed a formal complaint against his assailant but apparently they're unlikely to be punished with the Chp saying "It's a misdemeanor committed outside the Chp's presence and it's a stretch the City Attorney will take the case."
