HEY SOUL SISTER, the hit song by American alt-rock band Train, has been announced as the biggest-selling song on iTunes for 2010. The news was revealed as part of Apple's 'Rewind 2010' round up, and tops off a huge year for the band that has seen them receive a GRAMMY AWARD nomination in the category of 'Best Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals'.
'Hey, Soul Sister', written by band-members PATRICK MONAHAN, AMUND BJORKLUND and ESPEN LIND, has to-date sold over 4.8 million digital copies in the US alone, and is now the 8th most downloaded track of all time. It is also Columbia Record's most downloaded song ever, and is overall the biggest selling song in the US for 2010. The single, which featured on Train's fifth studio album 'Save Me, San Francisco', went straight to the top of the Billboard singles chart on release, and received 'quadruple platinum' status on 14th July 2010.
The news comes after the band were confirmed to appear on Dick Clark's 'New Year's Rockin Eve' show on December 31st 2010. The event, set to be hosted by Fergie and Ryan Seacrest, will also feature performances from the likes of The Black Eyed Peas, Justin Bieber, and JENNIFER LOPEZ.
