Trump Upsets Residents Over Road Plans
Property tycoon Donald Trump has upset residents in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, after demanding the city renames a local road Trump National Drive. The Apprentice reality TV star purchased the scenic Ocean Trails land in 2002 and is currently building his 261-acre Trump National Golf Club at the site - 30 miles (48 kilometres) south of Los Angeles. Trump is currently in talks with city officials over his proposal to rename Ocean Trails Drive as Trump National Drive. One resident MARCOS DELA CRUZ complains, "I think Trump is trying to take over everything. Ocean Trails is an actual spot. We were hiking there the other day. The name Ocean Trails said it all." Trump has come under fire by local government because he plans to add the title 'Los Angeles' to the end of the golf club title, instead of Rancho Palos Verdes. Local councilor PETER GARDINER says, "As soon as I see a business card that says Trump National Golf Club Palos Verdes, I'll vote for naming it Trump Drive."
