Donald Trump's hit US reality show The Apprentice has been caught up in a scandal after one of the programme's contestants was arrested for disorderly conduct at the weekend.

Real estate millionaire CHRIS SHELTON, who is vying for the chance to work with Trump on the current show, was taken into custody early Sunday (10APR05) after he was arrested at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel + Casino in Florida.

Seminole police spokesman GARY BITNER confirms Shelton was "loud" and "wouldn't calm down" when police were called after the reality TV star started arguing with hotel staff.

It appears Shelton was upset about the cover charge for the hotel bar.

In the police report, filed by the hotel's management, they state, "There were several patrons in the area who were visibly shaken by his actions. After several attempts to calm Shelton, he continued to yell and curse, refusing to calm down and stop causing a scene."

All but the final episode of The Apprentice has been taped, and it isn't known if Shelton makes it that far.
