Donny Osmond owes his wife DEBBIE for helping him come to terms with and conquer his secret social anxiety disorder. The PUPPY LOVE singer has revealed he was left crippled with low self-esteem and confidence issues when his pop career fizzled out in the 1980s and he felt so ill before big shows that he was convinced he'd die onstage. He says, "Nobody knew. I hid it very well. I would just start sweating and my heart would just go crazy and I'd panic. I would walk onstage knowing that I was going to die. "I lost my career, my 20s were horrible. I had to reinvent myself." But wise words from his wife of 28 years gave Osmond the boost he needed and he has since conquered his stagefright-related issues, which allows him to perform at his best every night onstage in Broadway, New York musical BEAUTY + THE BEAST. He adds, "She turned to me and said, 'Why don't you do yourself a favour and everybody in the audience and go out there and do an average job; just be average tonight.' "It gave me licence to just be average - it was the best performance I ever gave."
