Jennifer Lopez is to star in a remake of classic movie 'Overboard'.

The 40-year-old singer and actress, who has not starred in a movie since 2006's 'El Cantante', will make the movie, which originally starred Kurt Russell and Goldie Hawn, Hollywood Reporter claims.

The film tells the story of wife of a socialite who falls of a yacht and goes on to develop amnesia.

She is then taken to a hospital where a carpenter manages to convince her she is his wife.

'New York Minute' writer Bill Collage and Adam Cooper have created the current script alongside 'The Next Best Thing' producer Leslie Dixon.

Although she has not appeared in cinemas since 2006, Jennifer hits the big screen in April with 'The Back-Up Plan' - a romantic comedy starring Alex O'Loughlin and Eric Christian Olsen.

Jennifer has a history of playing lead roles in romantic comedies - in 2001 she played Mary Fiore in 'The Wedding Planner', followed up the year after by Marisa Ventura in 'Maid in Manhattan'.
