Showbiz legends SIR Elton John and Liza Minnelli were among guests at Saturday's 13th annual Life Ball in Vienna, Austria to raise money for AIDS charities.

Vienna's city hall was turned into a disco for 4,000 guests, while 35,000 revellers outside were treated to a fashion show on a catwalk in the shape of a red AIDS charity ribbon.

Minnelli said, "We're all here because we want to make some noise. When it gets quiet, it gets ignored."

Other guests at the event included supermodel Heidi Klum, singer MARIANNE FAITHFUL and soul star RANDY CRAWFORD.

Last year (04), the event raised $1.2 million (GBP623,000) for AIDS charities.
