Sir Elton John has lashed out at Dolce And Gabbana after they branded children born through IVF ''synthetic.''

The 67-year-old singer - who has Zachary, three, and 23-month-old Elijah with his husband David Furness - took to his Instagram account today (15.03.15) to slam the designer duo for ''opposing'' same-sex families and fertility treatment.

He wrote: ''How dare you refer to my beautiful children as ''synthetic''. And shame on you for wagging your judgemental little fingers at IVF - a miracle that has allowed legions of loving people, both straight and gay, to fulfil their dream of having children.

''Your archaic thinking is out of step with the times, just like your fashions. I shall never wear Dolce and Gabbana ever again. #BoycottDolceGabbana (sic).''

And Elton wasn't the only celebrity saddened by Dolce and Gabanna's comments as Ricky Martin - who become a father via gestational surrogacy in August 2008 to Matteo and Valentino - also took to his Twitter account to ask them to ''wake up'' and stop spreading so much hate in this day and age.

Attaching a link to the interview, the 43-year-old singer wrote: ''ur voices R 2powerfull 2B spreading so much h8 http://bit.ly/1CiY63B Wake up,Its 2015 Luv urselves guys (sic).''

The Italian designers - who are both gay and were in a relationship with one another for 25 years until 2005 - have previously said they don't agree with same-sex marriage but took it one step further this week when speaking to Italian magazine Panorama.

They are quoted as saying: ''We oppose gay adoptions. The only family is the traditional one.

''No chemical offsprings and rented uterus: life has a natural flow, there are things that should not be changed.''
