Sir Elton John was given a standing ovation in Las Vegas on Wednesday night (28Sep11) as he unveiled his lavish new residency show.
The veteran musician launched The Million Dollar Piano at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace, marking his return to Sin City two years after closing his Red Piano shows in 2009.
During the concert, Sir Elton introduced the audience to his luxurious new $1 million (£666,667) piano, a black model with a golden dragon motif, which provided the name for the show and took manufacturers Yamaha four years to build.
The singer revealed he has nicknamed the instrument 'Blossom' after jazz singer Blossom Dearie, joking, "It has a spin cycle washer in the back, a microwave and an aquarium," according to the Associated Press.
Throughout the show, Sir Elton ran through his hits, including Blue Eyes, which he dedicated to the late Dame Elizabeth Taylor, and won a number of standing ovations from the enthralled crowd.
The residency will reportedly run on and off for three years with the singer sharing the venue with Celine Dion.
