Eminem - Eminem Publishers Sue Over Facebook Advert
Rapper Eminem is at the centre of a new copyright infringement battle after his music publishers accused Facebook.com bosses of illegally using one of his songs for advertising purposes.
Executives at Michigan firm Eight Mile Style claim the social networking website's founder, Mark Zuckerberg, recently appeared in a web commercial for its new cell phone interface, Facebook Home, which featured a track strikingly similar to the Lose Yourself hitmaker's 2000 release Under the Influence.
Publishers have also named heads at ad agency Wieden+Kennedy as defendants for reportedly copying Eminem's music "in an effort to curry favor with Facebook by catering to Zuckerberg's personal likes and interests, and/or to invoke the same irreverent theme" of the rapper's song.
A lawyer for Wieden+Kennedy has denied the copyright claims.
