Rapper Eminem has been invited to reboot his acting career with a guest appearance on upcoming U.S. crime drama DETROIT 1-8-7.
The Stan star, who hails from Detroit, Michigan, won critical acclaim for his turn in semi-autobiographical movie 8 Mile in 2002 and he is set to make a cameo as himself in hit TV show Entourage later this year (10).
But Detroit 1-8-7's executive producer, Jason Richman, wants the hip-hop icon to play a part in the forthcoming TV series, which stars Michael Imperioli as a detective fighting crime on the streets of the city.
He tells New York magazine's Vulture column, "I would love it. He's a great actor, and he's a good representative for the city."
Richman has already "reached out" to Eminem's record label bosses to request permission to use his music in the show and he hopes it will pave the way for the star to take on an acting role.
He says, "I'd love for him to be involved in any way possible."
