Emma Watson asks her guy friends for fashion advice.

The 'Noah' actress admits she turns to her mum and her close male friends for help with choosing her red carpet outfits rather than her celebrity pals because they are so honest.

She told the Sunday Times' Style magazine: ''I love showing them images and asking, 'What do you think of this dress?' I call on my boyfriends for advice all the time. I mean friends who are boys, and my girlfriends.''

Emma started her career aged nine when she was cast as know-it-all witch Hermione Granger in the 'Harry Potter' franchise and admits she feels more confident these days then she did as a teen.

The 23-year-old star has also come to terms with the fact she will never live up to the ideal projected in airbrushed photos of models in fashion magazines, which she thinks are ''dangerously unhealthy'' for young girls.

She mused: ''I can take criticism on the chin a lot more. As a younger woman, that pressure got me down, but I've made my peace with it. With airbrushing and digital manipulation, fashion can project an unobtainable image that's dangerously unhealthy. ''

Despite having a Twitter and Instagram account, the brunette is very private about what she posts in the public domain and won't even share pictures of her culinary confections on social media.

She added: ''Raspberry and amaretto cake is my favourite, but I also like banana choc-chip bread and egg tortilla. Cooking helps me to relax, and I think people close to you appreciate a home-cooked meal.''
