Emma Watson will forever be remembered for her role as know-it-all wizard, Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter franchise, but the British actress is keen to shed her type-cast skin and reinvent a more adult reputation for herself, reports USA Today.
You can now catch Watson in a corset, raucously dancing during a performance of The Rocky Horror Picture Show in coming-of-age comedy-drama The Perks of Being a Wallflower, out Sept. 21. She plays Sam, a character lost in a world of high school freshmen and teenage politics, who makes friends with someone equally at odds with school life. Putting on a convincing American accent, Watson chose the role to differentiate herself from previous characters. "It was way out of my comfort zone, doing the crazy dancing and the Rocky Horror stuff. This movie has helped me shake off a lot of the fear and restrictions I put on myself," she says. "I'm slowly breaking down the barriers. Slowly, I'm giving myself permission to be an actress and not worrying so much what people think about it."
