Superstar Enrique Iglesias Has Unveiled Plans To Help Fund An Annual Scholarship Programme For One Lucky Student Enrolled At The Prestigious Berklee College Of Music In Massachusetts.
The Hero hitmaker reveals he has teamed up with officials at the Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation to establish the scholarship, which will be given to a financially-strapped Ibero-American student to help "support the next generation of Latin musicians".
The singer says, "Not everyone gets to do what they love, and to be able to help someone achieve their goals is extremely gratifying."
The educational fund will have a maximum value of $200,000 (£125,000).
Students from countries including Peru, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil and Argentina, who have accepted a place at Berklee to begin classes this autumn (15), are eligible to apply for the scholarship until 10 April (15).
A winner will be chosen 10 days later and the lucky student will be presented with the award by Iglesias himself.
The singer plans to maintain a "very close" relationship with the winning student during his or her time at Berklee and will help the winning scholar transition into the music industry once they graduate.
