Eva Longoria struggled to eat following her marriage breakdown.

The former 'Desperate Housewives' actress was ''depressed'' when she split from basketball player Tony Parker in November 2010 after three years, yet she was amazed her diminishing figure saw her attract a lot of compliments.

Speaking on 'The Dr. Oz Show', she said: ''I was not eating. I was depressed. I was sad. My diet was coffee.

''[But this was] the time I got the most compliments, because I was so skinny.

''People kept saying, 'You look amazing. Divorce agrees with you.' ''And I was like, 'I don't feel good. I have no energy.' I didn't know I was depressed. I mean, I knew it was a sad moment in my life, but I wouldn't categorise myself as depressed.''

Eva, 38, eventually saw a doctor who ran blood tests and warned she was ''just depleted of every vitamin,'' her liver was overacting and she had an iron deficiency.

She said: ''There were all these things [that] were physically wrong with my body, so I had to saturate with vitamins and kind of get back on track.

''For about three months, I did a really strict no sugar diet, and I had more energy than I've ever had. My palate was different. Things tasted better.''
