Eva Mendes is being considered for the cast of 'Total Recall'.

The remake of the 1990 sci-fi thriller - which originally starred Arnold Schwarzenegger - already has Colin Farrell confirmed for the lead role and now a number of actresses including Eva are said to be auditioning for the two main female parts.

The 'Ghost Rider' beauty is set to play Melina, who helped protagonist Douglas Quaid solve a futuristic scandal on Mars in the original film, but is also apparently being considered for the part of his difficult wife Lori.

Kate Bosworth is also reported to be reading for the part of Lori, with Eva Green, Jessica Biel and Paula Patton vying for Melina.

The original film tells the story of Douglas, a construction worker who thinks he's a secret agent, but the new version - directed by Len Wiseman - will be closer to the book it was based on 'We Can Remember It for You Wholesale' by Philip K. Dick. Producer Neal Moritz said: "It's closer to the book, the big different is we don't go to space. Instead of it being a spaceship that takes us to another planet, there's something that takes us from one side of the plane to another that's really interesting.

"It's a Real World, a real future world, where the cities have just gotten so overcrowded that the cities are just built up, up, up, up."

The movie will begin shooting in Canada on May 15th.
