Picture: Ewan McGregor arrive at Los Angeles International Airport. Los Angeles, California - 21.10.09
Scottish movie star Ewan McGregor has explained the delay of his new movie, I LOVE YOU PHILLIP MORRIS - Disney bosses didn't want young film fans thinking their EBENEZER SCROOGE was gay.
The film, in which MCGregor and Jim Carrey play lovers, was initially slated for release last year (09), but movie bosses behind the A Christmas Carol blockbuster feared Carrey's portrayal of a gay man would confuse their audience, according to the Scot.
MCGregor tells the new issue of Out magazine, "There was talk that Disney fended off the release until after A Christmas Carol came out. They didn’t want kids thinking Ebenezer Scrooge was a bender."
I Love You Phillip Morris, which was a sensation at last year's (Jan09) Sundance Film Festival in Utah, will finally hit cinemas at the end of March (10).
