Famke Janssen feels like she missed the 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' ''party''.

The actress admits she was disappointed not to be asked to reprise her role as Jean Grey in the new superhero film, which reunites many of the cast members from the original 'X-Men' trilogy and director Bryan Singer.

However, the actress is content with having a supporting role as telekinetic Jean in new 'X-Men' spin-off movie, 'The Wolverine', starring Hugh Jackman.

Speaking to BANG Showbiz at the UK premiere of the film in London's Leicester Square on Tuesday (16.07.13), she said: ''I do feel a little bit like I'm missing out on the party. They're all my old friends. I wasn't invited to the party. But then, you know, they weren't invited to 'The Wolverine' party and I was. So there!''

Janssen played Jean Grey and her darker alter-ego Phoenix in the 'X-Men' trilogy between 2000 and 2006, but the character was killed off in the final instalment, 'X-Men: The Last Stand'.

Although she appears in 'The Wolverine' - as a figment of the titular character's imagination - the actress admits she isn't sure if she'll reprise the role a fifth time because of the abundance of female superheroes in the 'X-Men' franchise.

She added: ''When I got this phone call [for 'The Wolverine'] I hoped it would pave the way to new appearances, but the problem, of course, is, there's so many incredible 'X-Men' characters to explore on the female side - and male side - so why would they pick me in the future? I don't know if they will.''

Many of Janssen's former co-stars will appear in 2014's 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' including Jackman, Halle Berry, Sir Patrick Stewart, Sir Ian McKellen, Anna Paquin and Shawn Ashmore.

'The Wolverine' is in cinemas on July 26.
