Farrah Fawcett reconciled with her ex-husband shortly before her death.

The 'Charlie's Angels' star - who lost her battle with anal cancer last Thursday (25.06.09) - spoke to Lee Majors for the first time in 23 years following her 62nd birthday last February.

A source said: "This past February, her birthday, he decided to call her. They spoke for the first time in 23 years. They had a 40-minute phone conversation about her life, and the cancer and it was such a lovely moment for the two of them. I guess it was a very good conversation. They joked, and they got a little bit emotional."

Farrah and Lee married in 1973 but split six years later, getting divorced in 1982.

Farrah was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2006. Although doctors believed it had been successfully treated, the illness returned in May 2007.

Lee began contacting Farrah's friends shortly after her initial diagnosis, but stopped short of phoning her as they had not been in touch for so long.

The source added to Us Weekly magazine: "When Farrah got diagnosed, and it became public, Lee started calling Farrah's close friends to get updates on her. He did that for two and a half years. He just wanted to know how she was doing because he still cared about her as a friend.

"He didn't feel like he could reach out to her himself - it had just been too long, but he still cared about her deeply. He would send funny messages to her through friends, and she would do the same, and it was very sweet."
