Ryan O'Neal has proposed to cancer-stricken Farrah Fawcett and the pair are set to tie the knot in the near future.
Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O'Neal are set to marry.
The actor has proposed to the former 'Charlie's Angels' star - whose anal cancer has spread to her liver - and the pair are keen to tie the knot as soon as possible.
Ryan - who has a 24-year-old son, Redmond, with Farrah - said in a TV interview with Barbara Walters: "I've asked her to marry me, again, and she's agreed.
"Farrah is fighting for her life. But we will wed as soon as she can, say yes. Maybe we can just nod her head.
"I promise you, we will. Absolutely."
Ryan, 68, says he has never felt the need to marry his long-term love until now.
He added: "I used to ask her to marry me all the time. But it just got to be a joke, you know. We just joked about it."
Last month, it was revealed the couple nearly tied the knot while she was undergoing cancer treatment.
Family friend Joan Dangerfield said: "They thought about getting married in Germany. They had me check into all the laws to see if that was possible. But we just didn't get it together in time."
Farrah's hairstylist Mela Murphy is looking forward to the couple's big day.
She said: "He is the love of her life and she is the love of his life."
Farrah, 62, was initially diagnosed with cancer in 2006. Although doctors believed it had been successfully treated, the illness returned in May 2007.
