British Djs Calvin Harris and Fatboy Slim and rapper Example have backed a campaign to save one of London's most famous nightclubs from closure.

Bosses of the legendary Ministry of Sound venue have appealed for help as London's Mayor Boris Johnson decides whether to allow a new apartment block to be built nearby - a move which could force the club to close over noise regulations in residential areas.

A petition has been launched in a bid to sway Johnson's decision and it had reached more than 4,000 signatures on Friday (01Feb13).

DJs Harris and Fatboy Slim have backed the campaign, and rapper Example says of the drive, "If we don't stand up and save it, we will lose the true home of British dance music."

Many stars have also been supporting the campaign on social networking sites, with MCFly star Danny Jones writing in a post on Twitter.com, "Guys help save Ministry of Sound it's such a special place."
