The Duo Review
The Duo is a crazy, shot-on-video story about two wannabe super-heroes who are so stupid they install their own alert beacon -- and keep the controls to it for themselves. They might also be gay. They're also, like, really pretty lame.
It's a mockumentary that hits all the high points of Austin, from 6th Street to The Yellow Rose, where one of the heroes ("Buddy Boy") finds a potential replacement for his partner ("Best Man") in one of the strippers. (In fact, there seem to be lots of strippers throughout this movie... hmmmmm.)
Occasionally funny, this indie keeps us laughing with some surprising production values, decent humor, and, of course, strippers. It's very rough around the edges, and rarely does it make any sense, feeling improvised and padded though it's got a screenwriter.
Still, I've seen a lot worse at the movies. Too bad interviewer Marie Black steals the show from our bland, erstwhile heroes.
