Florence + The Machine's drummer almost missed a gig because he was trapped in the toilet.

Chris Hayden was left red-faced after he had to be rescued from a bathroom cubicle just minutes before the 'Shake It Out' hitmakers were due to perform in London at the intimate BBC Radio 2 In Concert.

Singer Florence Welch joked to The Scotsman newspaper: ''I didn't know whether to say it on stage because I didn't want to embarrass him, but he got trapped in the loo. He was screaming.

''He got really freaked out. We could hear him trying to bash the door down, and they had to take the door off its hinges, so my Dad did offer to stand in. But he did escape.''

Chris had gone to the bathroom before the group took to the stage in London's Rivoli Ballroom last Thursday (08.11.12), and his band mates had to enlist the help of the venue's staff members to take the cubicle door off its hinges and rescue the panic-stricken drummer.

Florence + The Machine are touring the UK and Ireland next month, kicking things off at Exeter Westpoint Arena on December 4 and ending up in Dublin on December 12.
