Florence and the Machine have reached their very first number one in the singles charts with 'Spectrum (Say My Name)'.
The band, fronted by Florence Welch, has knocked Maroon 5 Feat. Wiz Khalifa's 'Payphone' off the top of the chart, relegating them into second. Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.I.AM has reached number three with his latest solo single 'This Is Love' and rapper Chris Brown and 'Don't Wake Me Up' came in at number four. Completing the top five were R'n'B band Stooshe with 'Black Heart'.
Redhead Florence recently apologised to fans in a statement after being forced to pull out of two festival appearances at Spain's Benicassim and Portugal's Optimus Alive due to problems with her vocals. "I've sustained a vocal injury and been told I cannot sing for a week", she regrettably revealed. "Seriously I felt something snap, it was very frightening. I'm so sorry to all the fans, I was desperate to still perform, but was told without question not to, so as not to do permanent damage". Florence failed to top the album charts; a spot which was taken by folk artist Newton Faulkner and his third album 'Write It On Your Skin' for the second time.
